Moms cry, 'Keep our babies dry!'

-

MANILA, Philippines - When it comes to diapers, dryness and preventing rashes is one of the top priorities for moms.

That is why Pampers, the diaper brand committed to baby development, and its partner, the Mother and Child Nurses Association of the Philippines (MCNAP), has teamed up to give a talk to parents on how they can keep their baby’s skin healthy and prevent diaper rash.

Diaper rash, MCNAP explains, is a result of skin irritation due to moisture in the nappy area, caused by pH changes that occur when stools and urine combine.

Keeping baby’s bottom dry and clean, they advise, is the best way to prevent diaper rash. Make sure to change your baby’s diaper after they become wet or soiled or look for an extra-absorbent diaper that helps pull urine away from your baby’s skin and stool.

In a test conducted at Expomom, one of the biggest lifestyle events for moms and babies today, Pampers also proved that it was the best diaper on the market when it comes to dryness.

Called the Pampers Dryness Challenge, Pampers representatives asked parents to pit their baby’s current diaper versus Pampers at a live demonstration.

Research showed that moms usually change their baby’s diaper after two wettings. To replicate this, testers poured 150 ml. of tap water into Pampers Active Baby and the current product of the challenging parent and let it soak.

To simulate the pressure diapers are put under when babies sit on them or when they suddenly fall on their bottoms while they’re learning to walk, Pampers brand manager Chad Sotelo placed tissue papers on top of both diapers and asked parents to press down hard.

“Imagine when your baby is still learning to walk; he takes a step, maybe two, then boom, down on his bottom. Then it will put sudden pressure on the diaper. So in this case, your diaper needs to lock the urine well and not let urine come out under baby pressure,” Sotelo explained.

Throughout the many demonstrations carried out that day, Pampers Active Baby was the only diaper who not only absorbed the water poured on it faster, it was also the only diaper whose piece of tissue stayed completely dry — just like your baby’s bottom.

This is because Pampers Active Baby has an extra locking layer that seals away wetness, so that it stays dry even under pressure. And it even has a soft, cotton-like outer cover with great breathability and a hypoallergenic lotion with aloe vera extract to help protect your baby’s skin and further reduce the risk of diaper rash.

Pampers Active Baby is available in major supermarkets nationwide. For more information about Pampers Active Baby, visit www.pampers.ph.
