Parañaque focuses on dental health

-

MANILA, Philippines - As part of its campaign to promote better health services and improve employee productivity, the Parañaque City government under Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. will start the 2010 edition of its dental health program for city employees and their dependents early next month.

Dubbed “Kapamilya Ko, Sagot Ko,” part of the city government’s “Serbisyong Totoo” program and in line with the celebration of the National Health Month, the dental mission will be held tomorrow, February 10 from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Parañaque City Hall grounds.

The activity is organized by the City Health Office under Dr. Olga Virtusio and is coordinated by the Dental Division headed by Dr. Marissa Banta. One hundred city employees and their dependents will benefit from the service.

Included in the service package are free dental consultation and examination as well as tooth extraction.

“Dental care, mistaken for an expensive health service, is often set aside by low-income families. Cognizant of its direct relation to nutrition, general well-being, and employee productivity, we give our employees and their beneficiaries the opportunity to gain access to dental care for free, as we do for the other citizens of our city,”  Mayor Bernabe said.

Last year, the city government issued additional new dental chairs and dental equipment to the health centers of the city’s 16 barangays.
