Parañaque 'Danxercise' contest for city hall employees
MANILA, Philippines - Good news for city hall employees who have a talent for dance and aerobics: The Parañaque city government under the leadership of Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. will hold a “dance-exercise” contest dubbed “Feel the Music and the Beat.” The competition is organized by the City Health Office headed by Dr. Olga Virtusio as part of the mayor’s healthy lifestyle program, which is getting popular with city employees who have adopted good health practices.
Employees who wish to participate must form a group composed of 10 to 15 participants and be ready with a dancercise routine that will not go beyond six minutes. They must bring their own CD or tape, which should be a current (2009) fast beat, dance music.
The deadline for registration is on December 4. Lots will be drawn for the order of performance before the Feel the Music and the Beat Danxercise Contest rolls off on December 18 as a front act for the city employees’ Christmas party.
The criteria for judging include originality (30%), costume (30%), and timing (40%). Prizes await the top three performing groups.
“Living a healthy lifestyle not only benefits a person physically but mentally and emotionally as well. They are more prepared to meet the demands of everyday life and have a positive outlook which helps them through the daily struggles that they face,” stresses Mayor Bernabe.
