Makati Med's on-the-go derm post-graduate course

MANILA, Philippines - In its effort to improve the quality of lives of people through advanced medical care, Makati Medical Center’s Department of Dermatology presents “On-the-Go Procedural Dermatology,” its sixth post graduate course that aims to update the department’s medical practices. The course will be held on Oct. 8, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.

Procedural dermatology is a subspecialty of dermatology that is concerned with the study, diagnosis, and surgical treatment of diseases of the skin and adjacent mucous membranes, cutaneous appendages, hair, nails, and subcutaneous tissue. The guest speaker is Dr. Annette Wagner, assistant professor of pediatrics and dermatology, and attending physician at the Children’s Memorial Hospital in Northwestern University, Chicago. Dr. Wagner will share her knowledge regarding the latest trends in the field such as updates in hemangioma and practical laser pearls. Named Woman of the Year of the American Biographical Institute in 2005, Dr. Wagner graduated with first class honors from the University of Calgary, Bachelor of Science in Cell and Microbial Biology. She later on obtained her medical degree from the McGill University in Montreal, Quebec.

Also to be discussed are phototherapy, developments in laser/light treatments, photopatch testing, among others.
