MANILA, Philippines – Being diagnosed with cancer seems like receiving a death sentence. Most cancer patients are afraid, confused, and at times ill-informed about their condition. They need a good doctor who understands their needs and becomes their partner in combating the disease.
Dr. Ang Peng Tiam is exactly that kind of doctor. An oncologist at Singapore General Hospital, Dr. Ang has treated over 7,000 patients in his entire career since 1989. Surviving Cancer includes the story of Dr. Ang’s Filipino patient Addison See who was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Dr. Ang treated him and together, they were able to prolong his life beyond the expected life span for patients with stage 4 cancer. Addison now lives an active life with his family and seeks other colon cancer patients to support them.
