MANILA, Philippines – HealthSolutions Enterprises, the only total healthcare solutions provider in the country, was handpicked by Makati Medical Center (MMC) as the sole supplier of life support system equipment for their ongoing expansion. MMC marketing and communications director Arlyn Songco said the hospital is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year with a re-launch in May. With these significant changes, MMC is all set to redefine quality healthcare in the country.

HealthSolutions brought in 17 units of its Powercombo anesthesia system for MMC’s new operating rooms and 30 units of the latest GE flexible monitoring systems for the new delivery rooms. To fully upgrade the hospital’s infection control monitoring system, HealthSolutions recommended the IV Cannula from conventional type to BD Venflon Pro Safety and needle-free Bardia Foley balloon catheters.

The Powercombo is an integrated anesthesia delivery system that provides anesthesiologists the tools to improve patients’ safety, thus bringing anesthesiology practice to the next level. It is powered by the GE Datex Ohmeda Aespire anesthesia machine and Cardiocap 5 multi-parameter monitor.

MMC is the first medical institution in the country to have its operating room monitors centralized using iCentral. MMC doctors now have an option to view their patients’ vital signs and important data in real-time, via their PDA, mobile phones, and over the Internet through the exclusive GE’s Web and Mobile Viewer enhancements. Whenever and wherever, the doctors can monitor their patients and make objective life-critical decisions on time.

With the scheduled Joint Commission International (JCI) survey this year, Songco said that MMC decided to acquire equipment that meets international hospital safety standards. The JCI is a US-based non-profit organization that inspects non-US hospitals to check if they meet the prescribed international standard for hospital safety.

“We want our patients to feel more comfortable,” Songco adds. “They would feel more confident now that we have more new, up-to-date and high-end machines. They wouldn’t need to go abroad to avail themselves of quality healthcare security.”
