How clean is the air you breathe?

-

In celebration of Philippine Clean Air Month, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources - Environmental Management Bureau, is rolling out activities that will address the growing problem of air pollution in the country.

Last year, one of the highlights of the celebration was the Linis Hangin sa Siyudad/Munisipyo, which was part of the nationwide enforcement and implementation of the Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999. Local government units were encouraged to implement schemes and activities to reduce air pollution in their areas, whether indoor or outdoor.

Honeywell strongly supports the Clean Air Month celebration, and is strongly advocating the improvement of indoor air quality in residences, offices, and hospitals. Indoor air can affect the health of individuals who may be exposed to pollutants in the air. Lab tests have shown that indoor air may contain molds, spores, cat dander, pollen, and dust particles and tobacco smoke particles.

As part of its advocacy, Honeywell partnered with Lung Center of the Philippines to promote clean air inside its premises. Honeywell turned over air purifiers to protect pulmonary patients and children from exposure to air contaminants that may cause health risks. The air purifiers were installed in the outpatient rooms of the hospital, the direct observation treatment short courses (DOTS) for children, as well as in the pediatricians’ clinics.

“The degree of air pollution in hospitals, especially in an urban city like Metro Manila, may aggravate the symptoms in patients suffering from pulmonary disease,” said Norman Reynoso, marketing and institutional sales manager of CYA Industries, official distributor of Honeywell.

Through the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filtration, Honeywell can capture up to 99.97 percent of microscopic particles that pass through filter and attract even small household particles. These particles are as small as 0.3 microns from the air.

Through this, Honeywell is confident it can help create a more refreshing environment free from pollutants indoors.
