A visionary with an eye for helping out
A proudly Pinoy doctor of boundless energy and enthusiasm, Dr. Felipe Tolentino is a steadfast visionary with a humble cause. Having founded the Restoring Sight International, Inc. (RSI) with a mission that “no one should be needlessly blind,” Dr. Tolentino further meets challenges head-on with unparalleled vision.
In the same light, RSI announces that Drs. Dinorah and Leonardo Castro from San Paolo, Brazil are the recipients of the RSI sponsorship for their Research and Observer Fellowships at the New England Eye Center of Tufts Medical Center.
The said sponsorship was made possible by RSI founder Dr. Felipe I. Tolentino through a generous bequest from the trust of the late James and Rita Chambos, long-time grateful patients of Dr. Tolentino.
RSI remains to be a non-profit, charitable corporation headquartered in Boston, with a large presence in the Philippines. Its founder, New England Eye Center’s Dr. Tolentino, recognizes the tremendous need among his homeland population for modern, technologically sound eye health- care.
The board of trustees of RSI includes representatives from several states as well as Spain and the Philippines. Part of the success that RSI has achieved to date is due to its partnership with other organizations where such opportunities exist and the “fit” is right.
In Asia, RSI’s partners are: Asian Eye Institute and the Ophthalmological Foundation of the Philippines (OFPHIL).
New England Eye Center (NEEC) is affiliated with the Tufts Medical Center and Tufts University School of Medicine. NEEC is the Ophthalmology Department for the Tufts University of medicine.
NEEC is a leading academic teaching and research hospital, and trains physicians from all over the world each year. It offers a full range of comprehensive ophthalmology, including treatments for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, pediatric ophthalmology, laser vision correction, and aesthetic surgery.
