Enriching books for the family

My family and friends know how much I appreciate books that they gifted me with several in-teresting ones for Christmas. I love all of them because not only are they useful for the home, they also help enrich family life. Hope you can try to grab a copy of the following:
KIT. Keep It Together is a home management manual written by Frannie Daez. Ate Shawie (Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan) gifted all of us (her sisters-in-law) with it and Ive gained so many useful insights about planning, organizing, delegating, sustaining, and improving the set goals of a home. The cover is eye-catching, being in full color with red as its background. I love the illustration that depicts a modern mom with all her gadgets, doing her chores while attending to the children. The book is easy to read and provides helpful sample pages on menu planning, a grocery list, chores, skills checklist for household helpers, interview guide for hiring help, rules and regulations, and how to make a helpers guide book. For families on the go, the author provides a packing list for the beach, the mountains, trips to other countries, business trips, as well as for a family members hospital stay. There are detailed examples of what transpires in a day and anecdotes on how the author manages her family life, being a homeschooling mom to six children, a career woman, a dedicated wife, and faithful child of God. Its a must for every newly married wife and those who want to continually improve managing their home just like me. I like the chapter on sustaining and improving, where the author reminds her readers the need to recharge physically and spiritually daily.
Blessings in Disguise. This book was given to our family by my Kuya Gary and Ate Angeli Valenciano. It is a compilation of stories from different people that reveals Gods presence in peoples lives. Some may call it a coincidence, but people whove seen the extraordinary and believe God is behind it call it simply a miracle. People who share their stories include Gary Valenciano, Iza Calzado, Donita Rose, Ayen Munji-Laurel, Tricia Amper-Jimenez, Dulce, Alejandro Roces, Raul Isidro, Jose Blanco, Odette Alcantara, Jovito Salonga, Jesli Lapus, Sonya of Sonyas Garden, Carolina "Kay" Jimenez, Felipe Gozon, Butch Bonoan, Ruth Callanta, among many others. The book was compiled by Flor Gozon Tarriela and Butch Jimenez and was edited by Mia Rocha Lauchengco. Its an inspiring book especially for the faint-hearted.
12 Little Things Every Filipino Can Do To Help Our Country by Alexander Lacson. The book was given to us by our friend Ria Ferro. I was truly inspired to realize how doing little things for our country can help make it great. Simple things like obeying traffic rules, asking for a receipt, and talking highly about our country can make a difference. The foreword warns readers not to lend the book or it will not be returned because its such a great read. I wonder where my book went. I just placed it somewhere in the house I guess someone picked it up, browsed through it and, voila, got engrossed in it! Sigh! Read it and help make this country great.
Oooops Dont Throw Those Weeds Away! Written by Nonie Dolera, Carmen Florento, Maur Lichauco and Flor Tarriela, its the book Ive been yearning to have for the longest time since my niece Julia Arenas told me about it. Since its only available at the Makati Garden Club and I have been too busy to take a trip to Makati, her family decided to give it to me this Christmas instead. The book is an amazing reference for edible weeds, ferns, palms, shrubs, vines, and roots. It even provides the readers their uses and how to care of such valuable plants. The authors also provide a variety of recipes that may be used to cook such healthy plants that are usually found in our backyard. With such treasures that grow almost everywhere, theres no reason for the Filipino to ever grow hungry at all.
Facing My Storms. The book was written and given by my friend Lo Cabrera. In it she shares her battles and triumphs over the different illnesses that plagued her body. She provides the readers a detailed account of her journey, the insights of her friends and loved ones, and how she miraculously won her battles while holding on to her faith.
