POA Inaugurates New Office

The Philippine Orthopedic Association, Inc. (POA) set a new milestone in its history when it moved to its new office on October 1, 2001. The new office is located at suite 810, Future Point Plaza Condominium, 112 Panay Avenue, Quezon City.

POA president Lauro M. Abrahan, M.D. announced that the office will serve as the POA headquarters with the President’s office, the Executive Board and the POA Secretariat.

Invited to the blessing and inauguration that coincided with the welcome reception for visiting ASEAN Junior Traveling Fellows were the POA Board of Trustees and past chairmen, heads of the different orthopedic sub-specialty organizations and five POA chapters, heads of the different PBO-accredited orthopedic training institutions, heads of pharmaceutical and implant companies and friends of the POA.

The POA was founded in 1948 and was incorporated in 1972. It has more than 350 active orthopedic surgeons in its roster. It is the only sub-specialty association of orthopedic surgeons in the Philippines affiliated with and recognized by the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS) and the Philippine Medical Association (PMA).

SLMC Rayuma Klinik Opens in October


St. Luke’s Medical Center (SLMC) will open to the public its Rayuma Klinik starting October 11, 2001 and every Thursday thereof. The Klinik will be open starting 11:30 a.m. and there will be lectures and discussions on rayuma. Patients can also avail of free consultations and medicines.
