MANILA, Philippines — Oppo knows how to flip its fan girls and fan boys by introducing a trio of cameras, including a telephoto one, to the latest iteration of its flip phone.
"It's a flagship in a flip," remarked Oppo senior product manager Silvia Jiang at last week's launch in Singapore.
The brand's latest flip phone, the Oppo Find N3 Flip, comes in its signature compact, sleek design with a noticeable vertical cover screen and a new round camera housing called the Cosmos Ring.
"Many flip phones only come with basic camera on top. Finally, that's about to change. With Find N3 Flip, we are introducing the first flagship triple camera system in your flip phone," she added.
The N3 Flip's has a wide angle camera at 50 megapixel sensor, which Jiang said is 30% larger than the competition. It also has a fast f/1.8 aperture lens.
Its ultra-wide camera uses a 48-megapixel, half-inch sensor, which Jiang said is "over 100% larger than the competition." It can capture an expansive 115-degree field of view with autofocus and an f/2.2 aperture.
The brand said its N3 Flip is the only flip with a telephoto camera, at 32 megapixel, with the added bonus of a Hasselblad Portrait mode.
"The tele-camera on Find N3 Flip is also perfect for portraits. We worked with Hasselblad to bring the cinematic bouquet to portrait mode. When I saw the samples, I genuinely thought they were taken using professional cameras," shared Jiang.
More apps on the cover screen
The brand said its vertical cover screen has a lot to offer. Eight of the most popular apps and more messages can be seen on the cover screen.
"You can answer the phone... Find your way with Google maps, check your email, browse the social media and short videos. You can do all of that without even opening the phone," she explained.
For those who like their pets from the previous iteration, the N3 Flip pets are now three-dimensional (3D). There are also more pets to pick from, including a panda, koala, tiger, dog, bird, rabbit and cat.
"If you are a Find N2 Flip user, don't worry. Most of these new features, including the ability to run apps on your cover screen, will be available on your device with a software update," Jiang said.
