Adrenaline rush on the Toyota Rush
It was in May this year that Toyota introduced its Rush. When I laid eyes on it recently, it sort of reminded me of a cross between Avanza, Innova and Rav4.
The Rush was much anticipated in its release. I got to test drive it belatedly because Toyota had informed me that the Rush was among its top test drives of the period.
But I was not to be disappointed — it was everything I waited for.
My first test drive was to Antipolo City on the evening of Friday, Sept. 21. We had set our sights on Antipolo even if it was late and even if it was the anniversary of the declaration in martial law.
I wazed my way to Antipolo and much to my dismay the drive would take over an hour from Port Area. But I was a happy camper as it would give me the chance to put the Toyota Rush to the test.
Quiet and strong:The engine of the Rush
Now, the Rush is an SUV that boasts style and functionality, backed up by the Toyota badge that promises durability, quality, and reliability. Its tasteful exterior, modern interior and features designed for an active lifestyle are only a few of Toyota Rush’s exciting characteristics.
I must add that the lifestyle staff that rode with me had a field day in seeing the nice features of the Rush.
The Rush is intended for those who balance work and play extraordinarily well; this new vehicle is built to make waves in the entry-SUV segment.
So it was with much joy that we led the convoy that took us to our joint in Antipolo.
Not disappointed
The Rush is the perfect city dweller with its 17-inch alloy wheels, stylish LED headlamps and taillights, with a 220mm high ground clearance. On other days, the Toyota SUV can also be brought out of town with its fuel-efficient 1.5L VVT-I engine.
I was amazed; like I always am with the way the engine quietly roared as we began our drive to Antipolo and stayed that way till we made it there.
Yes, we had lots of space for our work things because the Rush is a full seven-seater G grade entry-SUV offers a spacious luggage compartment for the everyday traveler and an eight-speaker system perfect for the active and exciting lifestyle of the car owner.
Little pleasure: Push button start and cup holders
We made it
Although the late night drive (it was almost 10 p.m. when we left) was a stop-go sort a drive, it give me a good feel as to just how efficient the Rush is. And, also how much I enjoyed taking the lead and rushing from here to there in such an efficient vehicle.
More than just taking people to places, the Rush driver (me for the night) can enjoy a stress-free drive with the vehicles easy to navigate interior features, such as its push button start and Capacitive Touchscreen Audio.
We made it Antipolo with a little time to park and then to take one more look at the Rush.
I was excited for my Saturday drive, which would take the down SLEX and straight into Tagaytay — this time with no reason to rush.
