MANILA, Philippines - Philips Saeco recently held its “Coffee Appreciation Day” at Sweet Bella Desserts, The Fort, where coffee enthusiasts shared their love for the beverage and learned the finer points of coffee appreciation. Guests were treated to a hearty breakfast and a selection of coffee blends that included Tanzanian Coffee, Colombian Coffee, Sumatra Mandheling Coffee, and Sumiyaki Coffee.
Aside from being served elegant beverages, guests were also given a special talk by renowned coffee connoisseur Manny Torrejon on the qualities that make great coffee, from the choice of beans to the right espresso machine to be used. He said that the characteristics of good coffee include aroma, body or heaviness in the cup, flavor, and finish or the lingering taste.
Following the talk by Torrejon was a demonstration of the Philips Saeco Xelsis, automatic espresso machine. The Xelsis offers full bean-to-cup customization where users can personalize up to 54 different coffee blends. “With these Philips Saeco espresso machines, you can be assured of getting the best tasting coffee possible, regardless of your preferred coffee specialty,” said Torrejon.
Philips Saeco, which has a rich Italian heritage as the inventor of the automatic espresso machine, assures the Xelsis’ ease of use. “If you own a cell phone and you know how to operate one, then this is as easy as that,” said Precious Hernandez, business development manager for Philips Consumer Lifestyle.
Liz Tan, brand manager of Evergood Unlimited Corp., the distributor of Philips Saeco in the Philippines, also went into detail about the patented features of the Xelsis. According to her, Philips Saeco holds the patent for the only espresso machine that has a removable brew group that’s critical to cleaning the inside of the machine.
Furthermore, according to Tan, Philips Saeco is also known for another patent, the Saeco Adaptor System. “It is an intelligent grinder. Once the Xelsis senses a different kind of coffee, it will automatically increase or decrease the grinding speed, allowing you to experiment with different kinds of coffee beans and tastes.”
“The Xelsis, along with other espresso machines such as the Intelia, Xsmall and the Syntia, are all made with one goal in mind—to create meaningful innovations that help improve lives daily. With Philips Saeco espresso machines, consumers can be assured of quality coffee, with all of the great characteristics mentioned by Torrejon, from bean to cup at just a touch of a button,” Hernandez said.
