Say hello to Sony Xperia

- Kathy Moran -

MANILA, Philippines - As you may know, Sony Mobile Communications has become a 100-percent Sony subsidiary,” said Takao Kuroda, president and managing director, Sony Philippines, at the recent launch of Sony Xperia S smartphone. “Sony Mobile Communications Philippines is now a division of Sony, and I welcome them as an integral part of our ‘One Sony team.’”

It was with much excitement that the One Sony team launched its latest line of Xperia smartphones recently.

“We possess an important distinction. No one else has the same range of product categories in combination with the magnitude of our entertainment services,” added Kuroda. “Being part of Sony means being part of an entertainment giant.”

Sony relies on its long line of world-renowned electronic gadgets that are present in approximately 900 million consumer homes worldwide. Sony estimates that there are at least a billion viewers of Sony television networks. There are also at least one billion Sony movies and TV shows sold last year.

“We have more than two million music copyrights,” Kuroda added. “And in the next three years, there will be 300 million new network-connected products.”

Sony looks to exciting times ahead for its consumers. They want their movies, music and games on their TVs and PCs to be the same experience on the cell phone.

“Our new range of Xperia smartphones are all about premium entertainment experiences with the very best of Sony technology and easy connectivity with other devices,” added Kuroda. “And so, we will unify the user experience across screens with one Sony look and feel. This doesn’t only provide a nice look, but simplifies the lives of the consumers who are using several Sony devices and services. Seamless connectivity across devices will enable our consumers to share their best experiences.”

Positioned For Success

Patrick Larraga, head-mobile division, Sony

“Sony Mobile is positioned for growth and success in the smartphone arena,” said Patrick Larraga, Sony head mobile division. “We’ve promised to bring unique user experiences to our consumers. And our new Sony Xperia product range will deliver on that promise. You will find them outstanding in design, performance and entertainment.”

Having been involved in the cell phone industry for over 10 years, Larraga is well aware of the needs and wants of the cell phone users. Larraga said that the Xperia smartphones exhibit the company’s Human Centric design philosophy.

“They make our products feel easy and natural on the hands,” he added. “A few months ago, four Xperia smartphones were recognized by the prestigious iF Design Awards in Hannover for their quality of design and finish, choice of material, environmental impact and functionality.”

The most intriguing new design feature in the new range recently launched is what Sony calls the “transparent element,” according to Larraga. This illuminated band emphasizes the large display and also works to hide the phone’s antenna components.

The transparent element builds on Sony’s unique and iconic identity. It is a design element that appears on the 2012 Xperia portfolio — the NXT Series.Sony is sure that its line of smartphones — Xperia S, Xperia P, and Xperia U have a design element that will stand out in the world of Android smartphones. Sony Mobile offers access to entertaining content like games, music and movies that can be enjoyed across a wide range of Sony devices. With the integration of the Xperia product portfolio with Sony, the company believes it presents its strongest product offering yet.

In his presentation, Larraga said that the Xperia Smartphones are made out of the belief that dreams can become reality, forged with imagination to unlock imagination, and built with inspiration so that they inspire others.

“We have put the best of Sony into these smartphones in the hope that they may bring out the best in those who use them,” Larraga added. “There are great things to come from Sony Mobile, and it will be our pleasure to introduce you to them. Together, let us make imagination come to life.”
