History in Indie film-making
MANILA, Philippines - Aside from breaking ground in digital film-making, the partnership of Cinemalaya Cinco and Canon brought to life the first full-length film shot with an EOS DSLR camera. Ang Nerseri director Vic Acedillo Jr. used the Canon EOS 5D Mark II digital camera and Canon EF Lenses to create his masterpiece for his fourth year’s participation in the film festival.
The story of a 12-year-old boy who takes care of his older siblings while their mother is away, Ang Nerseri was Acedillo’s first full-length directorial work and selected as one of the 10 finalists in Cinemalaya Cinco.
“It was both scary and exciting. We have to discover the camera’s capabilities along the way. We also experimented a lot, from the camera work to the wide range of depth of field you won’t get from other video cameras,” Acedillo said of his Canon EOS 5D Mark II experience.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark II has full HD Video capture at 1920 x 1080p resolution. Its continuous movie shooting time can reach 24 minutes. State-of-the-art image processing through its DIGIC 4 Image Processor results in faster processing, finer details, more vivid color reproduction, and reduced image noise.
According to Acedillo, the camera is so versatile that any shot is possible given the proper lenses. In fact, he looks forward to producing his future projects using the same equipment.
The Canon EOS 5D Mark II is available in Canon showrooms nationwide. For more information, visit www.canon.com.ph.
