MANILA, Philippines – You know what would relieve Wolverine of that berserker rage? Probably a good, close shave. Or maybe a fresh fruit shake.

As part of its summer offering, Philips recently unveiled gadgets and appliances that would be of interest not only to hotheaded mutants but more so for ordinary human beings like us in need of good consumer lifestyle electronics to make our homes complete.

The brand is introducing the Porsche of shavers — the Philips Arcitec line. Each Arcitec shaver boasts the Flex & Pivot Action feature and triple-track shaving head for a perfectly close shave, even on the neck. The shaving unit comes with three independent flexing heads that swivel with a full-range of motion. The unique combination ensures optimum skin contact in curved areas to reach even the most problematic neck hair. So you could just watch those muttonchops do a disappearing act. And if you’re going to do a Tootsie, rest assured that five o’clock shadow would be just a mere shadow.

The guys from Philips (who use the Philips Arcitec religiously) will tell you that the triple-track shaving heads offer 50 percent more shaving surface than the standard, single-track rotary shaving heads. The Philips Arcitec also has ultra-thin heads with slots to shave long bits of hair, as well as unique micro holes designed to catch even the shortest, dwarfish stubble. The brand also offers entry-level models such as the HQ 132 (which retails below P1,000). The HQ series is ideal for college students or young professionals who will use shavers for the first time, like some rite of passage. But consumers can rest easy because of Philips’ guarantee of quality. And besides…you don’t just buy a product; you buy a brand.

This is according to Philips Electronics & Lighting Inc. customer marketing manager Jason de Leon. “You’re not just buying (a shaver), a juicer, an iron, a blender — you’re buying something from Philips. We bank on our brand heritage. The brand name is synonymous with quality and service.”

He adds that part of the value of buying Philips gadgets or appliances is the nationwide service it offers. “Anywhere you go in the Philippines, there is an authorized Philips service center.”

De Leon will be quick to tell you that if shavers are essential bathroom gadgets, juicers and blenders serve important functions in the kitchen. Fruit drinks do not only serve as refreshments, they can aid in the body’s detoxification by “taking out harmful wastes that accumulate naturally from the food we eat, and cleansing our systems so that the flow of energy and blood circulation remain unblocked.”

Besides, fruit shakes can help cool the Sabretooth in us down.
