Merrell designs light and fast hiking and trail running shoes for 2014. The new AllOut Collection features a flexible underfoot wrap that mobilizes the arch. This unique design activates the body’s most natural form by creating continuous ground contact for increased mobility and efficiency. Core performance hiking and backpacking shoes are athletic in build but packed with Merrell’s tried and true performance technologies to meet the needs of modern-day trailblazers.
“Consumers are seeking natural motion options that offer more protection underfoot without inhibiting movement,” said Shaun Bohnsack, Outside Athletic product line developer at Merrell. “We believe the best way to optimize performance is to allow the feet and body to move naturally. In the design of AllOut we are able to strike the perfect balance of natural movement and the necessary protection underfoot.”
The AllOut Series has both hiking and running options. Key running styles include: AllOut Fuse, a hybrid running shoe built to transition from road to trail; and AllOut Rush, for the trail or ultra runner looking for a training or race shoe to go the distance. For hiking and backpacking AllOut Blaze includes a mid-waterproof design, a low-cut waterproof design and a low-cut fast and light multi-sport shoe.
In addition to arch activation, other key design features include the UniFly Impact Protection of ultra-resilient, strategically placed foam pads that provide a soft landing by dispersing impact and allowing for stable takeoff, ample ground feel and protection to go further, faster and longer. A unique M Select Grip outsole uses rubber that is built in a circular design that allows for each lug to move independently, providing multi-directional contact and increased surface area for a ride with animal-like agility. Whether backpacking, speed hiking or trail running AllOut supports the foot without inhibiting natural movement.
