MANILA, Philippines - Fresh from their North and South America Tour, English electronic new wave band The Human League will be coming to our shores to perform at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum on Oct. 10. Presented by Ovation Productions, they share the stage with ‘80s hitmakers Belinda Carlisle and Howard Jones. Known for their synthesizer-driven hits and a unique style that’s a precursor to today’s pop, The Human League (composed of Philip Oakey, Joanne Catherall, and Susan Ann Sulley) will perform unforgettable tunes like Don’t You Want Me, Human, Fascination and Mirror Man, among others. Because of the album’s phenomenal success, “Dare” was heralded as one of pop music’s most influential albums.
The band’s success continued with such hits as the Motown-influenced electro pop single Mirror Man, (Keep Feeling) Fascination and Lebanon. Human League’s sound is said to have paved the way for big mainstream acts like Madonna, La Roux, Moby, Pet Shop Boys, Little Boots and Parralox. Their songs have been covered and sampled over the years, by Craig David, George Michael, Robbie Williams and others.
Since their start in Sheffield, England in 1978, The Human League has released nine studio albums, four EPs and 29 singles. The band has played at over 350 concerts and sold more than 20 million records worldwide. They released their latest album “Credo” last March with singles Night People, Never Let Me Go, and Egomaniac For inquiries and reservations call 911-5555 or visit www.ticketnet.com.ph for more details.
