Urban legends
MANILA, Philippines - Parading stunning workwear staples down the runways during Philippine Fashion Week 2011, contemporary workwear brand Memo proves there’s more to boardroom dressing than straight-laced blazers and pantsuits.
The latest collection and runway offering “Urban Chronicles” takes its cue from the 21st-century city — a living entity that pulses with activity, full of individuals with stories to tell.
The collection unfolded in themed segments, featuring eye-catching pieces that reflected personality and job type, incorporating three of fashion’s hottest motifs — smart layering, color-blocking and sartorial touches.
“Metrophiles” trained the spotlight on key colors black and camel in primary workwear pieces — from dark business suits to little black dresses.
“The Urban Traveler” showed off polished looks in dominantly khaki and olive tones.
Smart casual dressing rocked the runways with “City Slickers.” With the ruggedness of denim, the segment successfully translated the concept into a more appropriate office repertoire, with a sleek but playful twist in business wear.
In “Tux Junction,” well-known techniques in mixing and matching were in season with tuxedo-inspired power dressing.
Finally, a mysterious and more serious take on business wear was unveiled in “Black Tie Affair,” highlighting dramatic day-to-night dressing through the skillful and creative use of color blocking, piping and layering.
“Urban Chronicles” successfully showed what Memo has to offer — style, status and success — making it every working professional’s ideal companion.
