MANILA, Philippines - After a long absence from the pop music scene, the Tux showband makes a comeback as it joins in the celebration of La Salle Greenhills (LSGH) 50th anniversary with a special concert — “LSGH, Singkuwen-Tux na!” — slated for May 15, 7:30 p.m., at the LSGH auditorium in Greenhills in Ortigas Avenue.
The concert is part of a series of events launched in September 2008 leading up to the school’s golden anniversary this June.
Four of the Tux members — Popo Suanes, Jeric Mariano, Monet Silvestre and Carlo Bulahan — are alumni of LSGH. They jumpstarted their musical careers in the school’s resident musical groups such as the Kundirana, La Salle Songsters and La Salle Brass Band. Together with their schoolmates from the University of the Philippines (Manny Aquino) and University of Sto. Tomas (Eric Antonio and Dante Sibug), the Tux marks its 26th year in the entertainment business known for its pioneering efforts in popularizing a cappella singing in the country.
Proceeds of the concert will go to the One La Salle Scholarship Fund.
