MANILA, Philippines — Going meatless for Lent, particularly on Fridays, makes people turn to seafood a little more than usual.
Shrimps in Spaghetti with Garlic and Olive Oil, which can be considered as a one-dish meal, makes Lenten dining even more special. It is one of the recipes featured in a "Wellnessize” program held by Nestlé Philippines at the Nestlé Wellness Kitchen.
Shrimps in Spaghetti with Garlic and Olive Oil
INGREDIENTS:
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup chopped garlic
1/4 kg. prawns, peeled and deveined, chopped
Pepper flakes or chili pepper or 2 pcs. siling labuyo
1 sachet Maggi Magic Sarap (8 grams) or to taste
Salt and pepper to taste
300 grams spaghetti, cooked to al dente
2 tbsps. chopped flat-leaf parsley (optional)
PROCEDURE:
1. Heat olive oil in pan. Sauté the garlic until light brown and fragrant. Add prawns. Cook for about 3 minutes until the prawns turn orange .
2. Add pepper flakes. Season with Maggi Magic Sarap, salt and pepper.
3. Toss the spaghetti into the sauce and mix thoroughly until the spaghetti is fully coated with sauce. Top with parsley and serve with crostini and slices of French bread on the side.
