WATCH: Where is the best lechon in Cebu?
MANILA, Philippines— Cebuanos are often asked where to get a good lechon or roasted suckling pig as it is one of the city’s most popular delicacies.
The dish is not just known in Cebu but is also a staple in Filipino celebrations.
In 2018, late celebrity chef and award-winning host Anthony Bourdain praised the lechon for its exceptional taste.
“The best pig, ever!” he was quoted as saying.
The Cebu lechon was also recently featured in Netflix’s original series “Street Food.”
The show highlighted the lechon of Leslie Enjambre in Talisay. Her family’s lechon business started in the 1940s and was dubbed as the best in the city.

Cebuano food writer Jude Bacalso and Chef Myke Tatung Sarthou, who were part of the show, shed light on where the locals buy their trusted lechon.
Bacalso shared that each Cebuano family has their trusted lechoneros some of whom later on turned their homemade lechon into a business. She said that Cebuanos are known to be entrepreneural.
