Rico’s Lechon opens its fifth store in Manila, located at the SM Mall of Asia Complex, Level 1, South Wing, Seaside Avenue, Pasay, with a ceremonial lechon chopping with guests of honor Rep. Imelda Calixto-Rubiano, Pasay City Mayor Antonino Calixto, Meat Concepts Corp. president George Pua, SM Supermalls chief operating officer Steven Tan and Rico’s Lechon founder Rico Dionson.

MANILA, Philippines — How do you love Rico’s Lechon? Let restaurateur George Pua count the ways.

“Lechon is such a versatile dish. Aside from lechon paksiw, you can have it in so many ways,” enthused Pua.

At the opening of Rico’s Lechon’s fifth branch at SM Mall of Asia, Pua tickled our palates with new lechon dishes that one can enjoy any time of the day.

For breakfast, there’s Lechsilog (lechon, sinangag at itlog), marinated lechon strips fried to a golden brown served with fried rice and egg. This simple silog fare is made special by the delicious and tender Rico’s Lechon. Best enjoyed with a cup of coffee and banana ketchup on the side.

For lunch, try the Tortang Talong with Lechon with a cup of steamed rice.

For merienda, you’ll never go wrong with a hot bowl of Lechon Arroz Caldo, Dinuguan at Puto or the flavor-packed Señor Pit Lechon Mami.

For dinner, a serving of Lechon Fingers with Sweet and Sour Sauce would satisfy one’s hunger.

Diners can also have fish and chicken dishes to go with their lechon. Try the Sinigang Boneless Bangus, Sizzling Chicken Steak and Fried Chicken Coated with Homestyle Sauce.

“Since we’ve opened the first Rico’s Lechon in Manila, I’ve been thinking of new ways to enjoy my favorite dish (lechon). There are parts of the lechon that aren’t popular with diners. To minimize waste, I experimented with new dishes that diners also love,” explained Pua.

As for drinks, more shake flavors have been added as well, like mocha, cookies and cream, fruity strawberry, bloody watermelon and sago at gulaman.

Following the opening of Rico’s Lechon Fort Entertainment Complex at Bonifacio Global City, Top of the Glo at Glorietta, Tiendesitas in Ortigas, and UP Town Center in Quezon City, this newest branch takes advantage of its beautiful location and offers an ample 200-seating-capacity space with al fresco dining so diners can enjoy their mealtime with a view and cool sea breeze.

But dining indoors is just as pleasant with tropical interiors, wooden furnishings, homey touches that boast a familial atmosphere and bring to mind the quintessential Pinoy salu-salo, where people’s hearts are just as full as their stomachs.
