A party for Golden Tee
The Golden Tee is one of the most anticipated golf events in society, business, diplomatic and political circles. The event was held recently in a specially constructed pavilion, sponsored by Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corp., at the Manila Golf and Country Club in Makati City.
Known as the premier golf tournament for non-professional golfers in the Philippines, the Golden Tee offers the metro’s biggest golf enthusiasts the rare opportunity to participate in this unique event where they are given the chance to win one of several luxury cars by making a hole-in-one, a tradition for the past 47 years.
Manila Golden Tee president Martin Romualdez, vice president Perry Pe and tournament committee chairman George Blaylock welcomed participants, some of whom flew in from the US, Japan and other Asian and European countries.
The event was a sit-down, plated dinner with red and white wine, and an open bar. The show, directed by multi-awarded director Bert de Leon, played a video presentation showing the dedicated service of your columnist for the Golden Tee in the last 45 years, which was received with resounding applause — a true honor. This year’s Golden Tee was, as always, a rousing success, thanks to the hard work of everyone involved.
Congratulations to the board of directors and the tournament committee as well as the Ladies’ Chapter, headed by Maribel Ongpin and the equally hardworking members, who gave time and effort to ensure another successful event.
It has been a wonderful privilege to host the Golden Tee for the past 45 years, and I look forward to many more! *
