MANILA, Philippines – We all have dreams of traveling the world and getting lost in places we’ve never been. But because of expensive plane tickets and accommodations and busyness for a long trip, traveling the world is no easy feat, especially doing so in a short amount of time.

But if you’re an adventurous foodie, your taste buds can take you on a trip around the world just the same! Let’s go around the world in 10 plates with 10 of our favorite cuisines:

1.     Australian

Bold and smoky flavors are the staples from the land down under. If you’re a fan of meat, ribs and steaks in all forms, Australian cuisine is for you!

2.     Filipino

There’s no place, or shall we say, taste, like home! Filipino classics are always a favorite because of their distinct ingredients and combination of tamis, asim and alat.

3.     Japanese

Sashimi, sushi and tempura have become popular throughout the globe; in fact, there is a Japanese restaurant in almost every corner of the world! Japanese chefs believe that nobody can compete with what’s created by nature so, fresh ingredients are always preferred.

4.     Chinese

China has eight culinary cuisines including Cantonese, Fujian and Szechuan. But they all have three things in common: a burst of colour, a delightful aroma, and delicious taste.

5.     Indian

The intensive use of spices, whether whole, ground or roasted, marks Indian food. Staples include peanut oil, biryani and roti.

6.     Thai

The perfect Thai dish is a combination of spicy and subtle, with a hint of citrus. The flavors come together harmoniously, representing the creative and playful nature of the land.

7.     Italian

There’s so much more to Italian food than pasta and pizza. What few people know is that Italian cooking is greatly grounded on the region upon where it is based. Naples, for example, has the best pizzas, and Sicily prides in its seafood dishes.

8.     French

With exquisite flavors and elegant plating, French food has always set a high culinary standard in terms of both taste and cooking techniques. Poultry, beef, lamb, veal and game meat, along with berries, mushrooms and leeks are the most common ingredients. And don’t forget the artisan cheese and wine!

9.     American

Who doesn’t love the good ol’ burger and fries combo? This staple American combination is a favorite of many because it’s easy to eat and definitely satisfying. Another great thing about burgers is you can put anything on it—ketchup or barbecue sauce, beef or chicken, lettuce or onions—everything works!

10.  Mexican

Did you know that truly native Mexican cuisine is born out of Spanish fare and native Aztec cuisine? Marked by hints of garlic, crema, their version of sour cream, and chiles, Mexican food always makes a great meal.
