TGIFriday’s female bartender wins ‘Shake, Rattle and Pour 2015’
MANILA, Philippines - TGIFridays-Glorietta’s Ruby Rizza Umlas was the first-ever female bartender adjudged “Shake, Rattle, and Pour” 2015 Bartending Competition Champion. She also topped the Compulsory Round of the competition.
Dynamic audience engagement, superior knowledge of the mixes, ingenious spiels and graceful freestyle flair techniques catapulted Umlas on top of her game during the bartending competitions held at the Glorietta Activity Center recently.
Aside from the cash prize and a “wooden propeller” (a symbol that the bar is the engine that runs and propels all TGIFridays around the world), Umlas will compete with equally skilled bartenders in an Asian tilt to be held in Taiwan in August. Should Umlas become the regional winner, she will advance to the TGFridays World Bartender Championship to be held in Texas, USA next year.
The other bartenders who competed in this year’s competition were Laurenci “Mr Congeniality” Gutierrez (Eastwood), John Erick “The Bump Guy” Galicia (Bonifacio High Street), Krishnamurti “The King” Key (Mall of Asia), Lian Carlo “The Boss” Pascual (Robinsons Galleria) and Johnna Rochelle “Flair Sweeyheart” Salipot (Cebu). Aldrin “The One” Javar (Fairview) and Karlo “The Professor” Torres (Greenbelt) came in as second runner-up and first runner-up, respectively.
