The company was established in 1993 with the aim of putting up a food equipment distribution and service amid the promising business atmosphere, particularly in the quick-service restaurant (QSR) and other food service formats. In July of the same year, HKR Equipment Corporation was founded.
Today, HKR has over 120 employees and has service branches in key cities in Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao and Baguio, among other locations. Its client base has widely expanded to include resorts and country clubs, airports and in-flight caterers, industrial commissaries, food plants, institutional kitchens such as schools, hospitals and offices, and convenience stores, cafeterias, food kiosks and coffee shops. It has a fully equipped world-class test kitchen -- manned by its corporate chef who develops and improves products -- which serves as a venue for end-user equipment training.

Some of HKR’s most popular equipment are the US brand Henny Penny (pressure fryers, open fryers, rotisseries, heated displays), Rational (combi-ovens) from Germany, and Irinox (blast chillers/freezers) from Italy.
Over the years, HKR acquired more global brands such as Hobart, Crathco, Carpigiani and Hamilton Beach.
Currently, the company is offering the latest innovation and energy-efficient equipment such as the Henny Penny Evolution Elite, which reduces shortening amount in frying by 40 percent; Hobart’s new generation warewashers utilizing less water and improved dishwashing capability; and the latest Crathco juice dispenser model with fewer moving parts for easier operation and maintenance.
HKR’s after-sales services include genuine parts supply, preventive maintenance, installation, testing, commissioning, overhauling and refurbishing, warranty coverage of parts and labor, maintenance and repair cost analysis, training on equipment care and use, pull-out and delivery of equipment, parts and service advisories and one-stop type of service.
The company has also developed a Planned Maintenance Program (PM) aimed at minimizing business downtime by extending care and rehabilitation of equipment no longer covered by warranty.
HKR boasts a reliable service network in the country -- 16 in total, backed up by satellite offices located in key cities all over the Philippines.
HKR remains optimistic that the hospitality and food service industries will continue to expand. It envisions itself to further grow from foodservice equipment and solutions, to selling industrial equipment lines, with plans to expand sales and service opportunities in various locations in Asia.
HKR recognizes that to be on top of the game, the company must go where its target markets are. Organizing periodic food service equipment demos in key cities is already a strategy while on a more aggressive note, the company plans to set up a mobile equipment kitchen for road shows featuring HKR brands. The company also tries to keep abreast of the latest trends and innovations by attending trade shows abroad.
