MANILA, Philippines - If you love good food and you are looking for a classy, but affordable place for a special dinner with your partner or family, the Olive Tree Kitchen and Bar by Chef Rob Pengson is highly recommended.
The fine dining restaurant, situated along the busy High Street at the Bonifacio Global City, is also the perfect destination for people who would want to take a break and catch a calmer mood after a day of stressful work.
The restaurant, more known as the OTKB, serves a variety of fine dining meals from antipasti to the main course and down to the dessert.
Among the recommended OTKB dishes are:
Apple Gorgonzola Pizza, a delightful mix of steeped dates, candied walnuts, braised red oninons and cabbage and drizzled with aged balsamic vinegar. The candied walnuts give the sweet taste that creates a mouth-watering contrast to the restaurant's freshly-made hot sauce. It's good for three and priced at P425.
The very tasty Foie Gras Mouse with steeped Iranian dates, prosciutto crudo and butter brioche priced at P495.
Burrata Garden, a refreshing salad with beetroot and radishes, a variety of melons and rich yogurt dressing that sets the diner's mood for the main course. It is priced at P435.
Pan Seared Salmon, a simple and very healthy part of the OTKB menu served with carrot and cumin puree, horseradish mousse, fruit and nut granola. It is best with the restaurant's cranberry juice. The main dish is priced at P640.
The Chocolate Terrain is OTKB's very own mix of chocolates that pamper the mouth with a rippling sweet and bitter experience.
The Manila Mule, a mix drink of vodka, ginger, calamansi and mango, brings a very refreshing break after a full course meal with a very slight kick of alcohol.
OTKB also serves one of the best ribs among the bars along High Street. Its Glazed Whole Rack of Ribs is cooked in apple cider barbeque served with grilled red cabbage and confit of new potatoes.
Also recommended from OTKB's menu is the Braised Lamb Shank, a generous serving of a very tender lamb shank with tomato risotto, yogurt and gremolata and grilled greens.
The restaurant also offers five-course tasting menus at P1,900 per head. For more good food, see OTKB's Facebook account.
