Glad winners explore culinary landscape of Pampanga

MANILA, Philippines -Homemakers and their loved ones headed out for an all-day eat, pray, and love expedition as Glad, makers  of kitchen wraps and bags, took them on a weekend culinary trip to Pampanga province for winning in the Glad Scrapbook online promo.

Antonette Algarate Magistrado, Anabelle Elorde, Anabelle Canseco, Mercedita Tiongkiao Madrona, and Janette Acosta each won a culinary tour for four. The contest, which ran in the Glad Kitchen Facebook page,  involved creating artistic scrapbook ideas that showed how Glad has always been a partner in family bonding. Whether it is preparing food for the family or storing food to keep it fresher.

The first stop was in Guagua at Lapid’s Bakery for breakfast. The town of Sta. Rita was the next to receive the Glad winners where they visited the Lansang Turrones Factory.  Lunch was at the house of Atching Lillian Borromeo- Lising, who not only served traditional Pampango cuisine but also demonstrated how to make San Nicolas cookies. From there, the tour group drove to Magalang at Carreon’s Sweets Factory where the Metro Manila-based winners were introduced to the rare and delicate plantanillas, mouthful mini-crepes with carabao-milk pastillas filling.  Everybody’s Café in San Fernando served as the venue  for “hapunan” consisting of kamaru or mole crickets, batute or stuffed frogs, morkon (often ordered by visiting VIPs), tapang kalabaw, and others. In true Filipino fashion, the group made its way back to Metro Manila at sundown with “pabalot” from the hosted meals, contained, kept fresh, and protected from spills in reusable and stackable Gladware Containers.

De Veyra is hopeful that the tour will jumpstart an online community of Glad users. But the key take-away from the trip, and which Glad anticipated and highlighted in its online Scrapbook promo, is that “Family is important,” said Tisha  De Veyra, Glad marketing director. “Glad products make your life easier from food preparation to protection and storage.  Less time in the kitchen means you have more time bonding with your loves ones.”
