MANILA, Philippines -If there is no true Filipino cuisine yet, there is true “Pinoy sarap.†Slowly but surely, all-time Pinoy favorites like adobo, sinigang and even ginataang gabi are getting into the global consciousness, introduced to foreign lands thanks in large part to OFWs and Filipino migrants who help spread the word about the qualities of Pinoy food.
And this “Pinoy sarap†trait is what local food manufacturing company Mekeni Food Corporation is propagating through its products as it introduces its new tagline “Masarap Na, World Class Pa!â€
Mekeni products are manufactured under the strictest and world-class manufacturing standards with regard to food safety and quality. Their 20-plus hectare facility in Porac, Pampanga is the highlight of Filipino ingenuity and strong entrepreneurial spirit espoused by Mekeni Food Corporation founders Felix and Meding Garcia, together with their sons Pruds, Nardo, Lito, Adrian and Doods, created a manufacturing plant the manufactures high quality and food products.
“Why the ‘Masarap Na, World Class Pa’ tagline? Because we offer the best products available in the market that are precisely what Filipinos look for nowadays—delicious, tasty, quality and affordable compared to the named brands,†explains Mekeni Food Corporation president Prudencio “Pruds†Garcia.
The plant has garnered both local and international recognition for its efforts to adhere to global standards in food safety and quality. Locally, its food safety programs like Good Manufacturing Practices or GMP and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points or HACCP are accredited by the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) and its meat processing plant was given an “AAA†rating by the NMIS.
Mekeni is the first in the Philippines, the first in Asia and 2nd in the world to be conferred the ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management System) certification.
Mekeni products are now available in major supermarkets, key cities and towns’ wet markets and food outlets.
