MANILA, Philippines - Crowne Plaza offers a Latin America Buffet at Seven Corners for November. The buffet features a selection of specialties such as tuna ceviche meatballs in spicy tomatillo sauce, mango, avocado and arugula salad, and Cuban flank steak and pepper stew.  Also try the grilled lamb shoulder marinated in cayenne, jalapeño, lime and cilantro. Desserts include Guatemala corn cake, chocolate chili cake and Brazilia coffee biscuits.

Nutella cake at Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila

Hyatt Hotel and Casino Manila extends its best-selling cake creation — the Nutella cake — until the end of November. The cake is made with pure Nutella, spread between layers of sweet bananas and chocolate hazelnut sponge cake. The cake, created by the hotel’s pastry chef, Johann Dreisger, is priced at P880 for a whole cake and P145 a slice.

Dusit Thani Hotel celebrates Thai “Festival of Lights” dubbed “Loy Krathong” on Nov. 28.  Benjarong Royal Thai Restaurant offers a family-style set menu for four persons at P4,999, available from Nov. 15 to 30 for lunch and dinner. The set menu includes Krathong Thong Sai Gung (deep-fried prawns, chicken, and corn kernels in pastry cup), Thon Song Chaw Suan (deep-fried vegetables with sweet chili sauce), Som Tam Chaw Ley (spicy green papaya with seafood salad) and Tom Yum Gung (hot and sour prawn soup). For the main course dishes include Pla Krob Krathiem Phrik Thai (deep-fried fish fillet with garlic sauce), Palam Den Dhong (stir-fried beef tenderloin with green curry), and Phad Pak Benjarong (stir-fried mixed vegetables with oyster sauce). For dessert try the Khao Niao Sang Kha Yaa (custard coconut with sticky rice) and Pol Lamai Ruam (assorted fresh fruit) to cap off the meal sweetly. The set menu is available for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Executive chef Vicky Rose Pacheco of the Chateau 1771 Group of Restaurants offers sinigang na corned beef, made from beef loaded with vegetables such as tomatoes, okra, taro corms (gabi), daikon (labanos), water spinach (kangkong), and eggplant stewed in tamarind, served hot and steamy. The broth is made from scratch with flavor- natural spices.

Sentro 1771 in Greenbelt 3 is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Monday to Sunday), and at Serendra from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Sunday to Thursday) and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. (Friday to Saturday).
