The competition has two categories: student and open category. In each category, a minimum of one person and a maximum of three persons are allowed to join. Participants must submit a fully accomplished application form, 2x2-inch photo of each member of the team, and food samples of their product from Sept. 17 to 19, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Summit Media.
The contest proper will contain four stages wherein participants will undergo a series of entrepreneurship classes in various business disciplines, participate in the actual Mercato Centrale market for two months, submit a business plan, and prepare a 15-minute presentation of the business plan along with a taste test of their food to the panel.
Participants will be judged 50 percent based on the creativity/uniqueness of the product, profitability, operational efficiency, and marketing strategies included in the business plan, and 50 percent on the unique taste of the food and booth presentation.
