Greenwich: Top choice of the country's top models

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - They are among today’s A-list fashion models and their faces among the most recognizable in the industry. Robby Mananquil, Melissa Frye, Valerie De Los Santos and Luke Jickain epitomize the new generation of top mannequins who have graced major catwalks and fashion spreads of glossy magazines.

These head-turning models have had their share of ups and downs in the fashion industry. From the rudiments of staying in top shape and looking their best at all times to jetting in and out of the country, Robby, Melissa, Valerie and Luke live the glamorous life and are inspired more than ever to put their best in every project.

“One of the biggest challenges of our job is to give justice to the creation of the designers,” says Robby, who started modelling at the age of 20. “Oftentimes, models are stereotyped but what people don’t realize is that there is definitely more to wearing designer clothes in modelling. It entails discipline and hard work.”

But aside from the privilege of wearing the creations of the country’s top designers, they also have to do their part to look good and exert extra effort to be abreast with the latest fashion trends. “I always make sure that I have enough rest. There are jobs that take really long hours, and having enough energy is a must. Part of our job description is to look good, and being tired or lacking sleep definitely doesn’t contribute to that,” explains Valerie, whose first shot at modeling happened when she was just 17.

Melissa says that she gets regular facial treatments to maintain clear skin, and keeps a wardrobe consisting of basic and classic outfit to match practically all events she gets invited to.

At the end of a long day at work, they all try to seek a respite to get away from the stress. Pampering themselves with a good massage is a popular choice among the four, but nothing beats spending time together with close friends.

“I’m a hyper person and I love to surround myself with my barkada,” Luke reveals. “I’m the joker in the group and I like sharing a good laugh with the gang. Of course, when there’s good company, there has to be good food, too, and pizza tops my list.”

The fab four give two-thumbs up to Greenwich’s Overloaded Pizzas, which is made of the most premium toppings and quality cheeses, making it perfect for sharing with the whole barkada. Even the crust is made yummier. The freshly made crust that makes the pizza experience delightful right from the first bite.

“Greenwich pizza is definitely better than any other,” states Luke who stays in shape by binging on pizza. “I personally like the Greenwich Special Overload, and I only get that in Greenwich. The 13 premium toppings and 2 types of cheeses over the hot freshly made crust is just delicious.”

“And the Buko Pandan Pearl cooler is just a great meal-ender. It’s a revelation at Greenwich yet again!” adds Robby. “Greenwich is perfect for barkadas because the food’s priced reasonably and the meals are always set for groups,” says Melissa.

In addition to the sumptuous Greenwich offerings, they also love the fact that Greenwich is an ideal bonding place because of its cozy and homey ambience. “I like the casual vibe. It’s a place where you can just be yourself and have lots of fun conversations with friends. I feel very much at home,” Valerie enthuses.

Trends may come and go but one thing remains constant for these fashion models — their newfound love for Greenwich pizza will never go out of fashion just as their friendship gets stronger as years go by. In fact, just as their friendship becomes stronger, Greenwich also grows with them as it provides top quality pizzas that are indeed better than any other.
