Inside Cebu's beautiful homes
A picture is worth a thousand words.” This famous quote is true for many situations. It even applies to homes that reflect the owner’s vibrant personality, homes where people find comfort and solace.
For two years, the driven publisher Eva Gullas and editor at large/interior decorator Rosebud Sala conscientiously worked and collaborated to select and showcase 27 lovely and inspiring houses in Cebu that are remarkable for their design, elegance, elements, concept or simply because they are beautiful.
To celebrate this much-anticipated labor of love project, the Zee Publications Inc. recently hosted a cocktail reception at the majestic lobby lounge of the Radisson Blu hotel to formally launch their latest coffee table book titled Inside Cebu.
The hardbound book features different homes with distinctive and unique appeal. Leafing through the pages, one will discover how beauty is defined in a minimalist modern residence or in a European-influenced home.
Among the proud owners of the well-appointed homes are Michel and Amparito Lhuillier, Louie and Annie Aboitiz, Herve and Tess Lampert, Brandon and Tanya McCarthy, John and Sal Young, Douglas and Annabelle Luy, and Rosebud Sala.
Lending support to this praiseworthy accomplishment were Cebu’s well-respected society matrons who in their own right personify beauty inside out. They are philanthropists Nena Garcia and Mariquita Yeung, educator Deidre Fischer, event planner par excellence Teresin Mendezona, ever-smiling statuesque ladies Joanna Lhuillier, Bo Hauri, and Marguerite Lhuillier, and artist Delphine de Lorme.
Enjoying the artistically laid-out photographs were Cebu’s society matrons such as Margette Sarmiento, Lita Quisumbing, Alice Woolbright, Pilar Streegan, Ada Martinez, Sonia Yuvallos, and Miriam Qua.
Towards the end of the party, everyone agreed that beautiful homes have certain things in common. Thoughtful planning, attention to the small details, exquisite materials, texture of paint, ease of maintenance, manicured gardens — these are requisites that provide touches of grace and beauty that please the eye and refresh the spirit.
