MANILA, Philippines - Now in its fifth year, National Food Showdown 2011, the annual culinary competition held in Manila and spearheaded by ABS-CBN’s TV Food Chefs, has partnered with three of the strongest provincial culinary competitions in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, paving the way for NFS’ mission to align the skills of the hospitality industry in the provinces and Metro Manila through these regional food showdowns.
Baguio’s HRT Week, Bacolod’s Sabor Bisaya and Cagayan de Oro’s Kumbira have allied with NFS 2011 and adopted the official rules and guidelines of the National Food Showdown’s competition lineup. This was formalized in a contract signing held at Restaurant 9501, attended by NFS 2011 chair Myrna Segismundo, co-chairs Eileen San Juan and Joanna Yu of the Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA), co-chair Anthony de Leon of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB), and Nelia Lee signing for Juan Miguel Gaston of Sabor Bisaya in Bacolod.
The regional culinary competitions will be held in July, August and September and will culminate in the National Food Showdown in Manila. Aside from the many exciting cook-offs and service competitions happening in all the regional events and the National Food Showdown, highly anticipated are the four Regional Chef Wars Elimination Rounds where top winning teams will battle it out at the Grand National Chef Wars Finals during NFS 2011 on Sept. 17 and 18 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
