Pilita Corrales and Michael Young wow Cebu
The Skal Club of Cebu recently hosted two fund-raising gala events to support it many projects.
Perfectly chilled wines courtesy of Honorary Consul of Latvia Bobby Joseph were served at the foyer of the Grand Ballroom of the Casino Español de Cebu prior to the concert.
Asia’s Queen of Song, the one and only Pilita Corrales, a true Cebuana, took centerstage in an intimate gathering dubbed, “One on One.”
The diva dished out timeless standards and local compositions, while engaging the audience in titillating rapport, as she both teased and captivated everyone with her signature moves.
Prominent guests that evening were members of the diplomatic corps such as Honorary Consuls Michel Lhuillier of France, Jose Sala of Sweden, Jaime Picornell of Spain and American consular agent John Domingo. Club president Manuel Sainz and some members of the board were in attendance as well.
During the event a silent auction of domestic destinations was held. Auctioned off were weekend stays at five star hotels and resorts such as Shangri-La Mactan, Plantation Bay, Alegre Beach Resort and Spa and Badian Resort.

A fortnight later, the prince of sax Michael Young mesmerized his audience with his effortless rendition of classical and jazz pieces. The event was held at the Salon de Madrid of the Casino Español de Cebu.
Young made his Carnegie Hall debut at the age of 16 before pursuing a BM in Saxophone at the University of Michigan. He then moved to Los Angeles where he took up his masters and doctorate degrees in saxophone at the University of Southern California while modeling and acting on the side.
