A Cebuano-style homecoming
Enterprising socialite Carmen Campbell had every reason to celebrate. After all, her only child is America-based Sean and his lovely wife Pia were visiting home for a long overdue two-week holiday. Traveling with them is Carmen’s sister-in-law Marjorie.
Wanting everything to be perfect for the homecoming, Carmen asked assistance from her dear sister Teresin Mendezona, who happens to be one of Cebu’s most sought-after event planners and home decorators.
All the dining tables were set with Carmen’s signature organza linens, which highlighted the center pieces of twigs intertwined with red roses.
Mingling over cocktails reminiscing the fun and memorable years at the Cebu International School where they were all classmates were Jacob Pimentel accompanied by his wife Sarrita, Maite Moraza, Leanne Florendo and Gino Cambonga.
Also present were relatives and close friends of the Campbell family who were very much a part of the couple’s formative years. They included philanthropist Annie Aboitiz, lady with a big heart Lulu Aboitiz, bubbly Moya Jackson, and her genteel husband Anthony, long-time neighbors Jaime Picornell and his wife Cecilia, innovative entrepreneur Michel Lhuillier and his gracious wife Amparito, inseparable sisters Hazel Gonzalez and Evelyn Ugarte, style icon Rosebud Sala, SM City’s Marissa Fernan, and art Elvira Luym.
Upon the request of the visiting Cebuanos, a Filipino buffet was served. Lita Urbina, multi-awarded and proprietress of the popular Laguna Gardens, prepared sumptuous all-time favorites that had everyone going back for more. The array of desserts would not have been complete without the cassava cake Teresin is well-known for.
The happy occasion was capped with giveaways tucked under the seats. Lucky winners went home with beautifully handcrafted napkin holders from you guessed it, Carmen’s popular stall at Ayala Mall.
