‘Ispesyal na Handa’ at Mangan
MANILA, Philippines - Mangan’s food is simple yet so delicious and down-to-earth. The Kapampangan word for it is manyaman. The restaurant boasts the Ispesyal ning Bale (house specialties), including favorites like bibingka with quesong puti or queso de bola and salted egg (P100); puto bumbong with grated coconut and mascuvado (P95), and the best-seller merienda favorites seafood pancit luglog (P112). The Ispesyal na Handa selection includes tofu sisig (P98), a light and healthy alternative to the usual sisig. Its Sisig ni Mely (P112) is served hot and wrapped in banana leaf. There’s lengua in mushroom sauce (P236), and the kare-kare buntot ng baka (ox tail) (P259) soaked in a rich, thick sauce. Bigger groups can opt for a variety of platters such as the Inihaw Pyesta (fiesta) platter (P620) loaded with inihaw na liempo (grilled pork belly), chicken barbecue, alabos na hipon (steamed shrimp), inihaw na bangus (grilled, stuffed milkfish), inihaw na talong (grilled eggplant) with burong hipon, inihaw na tahong (grilled mussels), dahon ng mustasa (mustard leaves) and a variety of sawsawan (dips).

Winebar at Chateau 1771 in Pasig
Café 1771 at El Pueblo Ortigas Center in Pasig City has a Winebar on the second floor. Partners Ricky Gutierrez and chef Vicky Pacheco have come up with an interesting concept for the new restaurant.
