MANILA, Philippines - Food and Foodie magazines and the Lifestyle Network bring in the best and the brightest culinary talents in the country in the 3rd National Food Showdown 2009 slated from Sept. 4 to 5 at the A. Venue Events Hall in Makati City.
The two-day event features exciting activities for both professionals and students. These include the Chef Wars (live cooking contests), Gourmet Cold Buffet Challenge, Fruit and Vegetable Carving, Cuisine Rapide, Set Menu Challenge, Flairtending/Cocktail Mixing: The Mixmaster, Flambé, Table Setting, Cold Desserts, Petits Fours/Pralines, Pastry Showpiece, Baby Cakes, Wedding Cake and Creative Cake Decoration.
Highlight of the Food Showdown 2009 is the Chef Wars National Competition called “The Battle of the Experts.” Finalists from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao will compete in two categories: classical European and Kulinarya Filipino. Winners of both categories will be known as “The Ultimate Chef Warriors.”
Other category awards include Presidential Trophies for the overall winners, Golden Plate Trophy for the overall winner in the Compleat Chefs Class Competitions, Golden Plate Trophy for the overall winner in the Bar and Dining Challenge Classes and Golden Plate Trophy for the overall winner in the Sweet Revenge Class Competitions. All awards are for both students and professionals.
The core group behind the Food Showdown 2009 are Myrna Segismundo, over-all chair; Glenda Barretto, chair of judging and appeal; Jill Sandique, chair of Chef Wars Competitions; Raul Ramos, chair of the Food Showdown Competitions; Marissa Garcia, head of secretariat; and Ruth Padilla, head of physical arrangement.
