MANILA, Philippines – The Old Spaghetti House (TOSH) has linked up with the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, the FEU’s varsity basketball team, in a nutrition partnership for this year’s 72nd Season of the UAAP Basketball Tournament.
Based on the theory that healthy sports nutrition promotes better performance and the well-being of athletes, and on the specific dietary requirements laid-out by FEU nutritionist Arabella Ripoll, TOSH chefs have concocted three pre-game and four post-game meals for the university’s ball players, who will fight it out with the defending champions in this year’s finals. These nutritious meals will also be available to recreational athletes and fitness enthusiasts at any of the TOSH’s 22 outlets nationwide, now on it’s 6th year of operation.
The nutrition regimen is divided into pre-game and post-game meals. The pre-game or pre-exercise meal is very important because it ensures adequate glycogen or energy stores for optimal performance. It should be taken three hours before the activity.
The post-game or post-exercise menu aims to replace essential nutrients lost after the activity and to restore the athlete or the fitness buff’s recovery and energy level. It should ideally be taken within 30 minutes and no longer than two hours after the strenuous activity.
The partnership between the Old Spaghetti House and FEU is part of TOSH’s “Eat Healthy” advocacy. The Old Spaghetti House is promoting its brand as the healthy option among food chains in offering delicious and nutritious meals. The sports nutrition meals are available in all 22 outlets of The Old Spaghetti House throughout the duration of the 72nd Season of the UAAP basketball tournament.
