The San Miguel Great Food Club holds a year-end cooking demo on Nov. 22 at the San Miguel Corporation head office cafeteria in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
Chefs Sylvia and Ernest Reynoso-Gala, Gene Gonzalez and Heny Sison will whip up budget-friendly gourmet meals guaranteed to delight food lovers, homemakers, and gourmet aficionados alike.
Dubbed “Feast for the Frugal Gourmet,” the event will feature chef Gonzalez’s special cocktail treats of chicken larb with caramelized onions, fried chilies and cheese, and Purefoods kimbap. The event will also feature yummy meals using San Miguel Pure Foods products, edible gift ideas, well as pocket-friendly recipes that are perfect for reunions and parties.
“Christmas, to me, is not really frugal but is actually well-planned so we won’t have wastage on preparation and ingredients,” says chef Gonzales, the man behind Café Ysabel. “This way, we don’t bloat the ref and freezer with lots of leftover food items.”
When asked for trade secrets, and if he felt that at this stage he has already left an indelible mark in the culinary world, chef Gonzales replied: “Etched a mark? A secret? I don’t really know if I’ve really etched a true mark but through the years it is the enjoyment of doing this kind of work that has kept my energy and my company going. I’m really enjoying my work, and it’s not work really to me because it’s fun.”
The year-end cooking demo is just one of the many activities of the San Miguel Great Food Club.
