Nursing student bags Miss Cebu 2007 title

The quest forMiss Cebu 2007 was definitely more than just another beauty pageant. Eleven lovely ladies, ext-remely articulate and confident in their all-white wear by Cebu’s proponents of fashion, wel-comed guests at the grand ballroom of the Cebu Waterfront Hotel.

Cebu’s very own highly acclaimed Knapsack performers joined the candidates in a much applauded song and dance opening number choreographed by director par excellence Junjet Primor.

TV host Boy Abunda did the fun-filled yet nerve-wracking question-and-answer portion that gave an insight into the ladies’ more candid opinions and values.

Pinoy Dream Academy scholars Panky Trinidad and Marie Chai Fonacier, together with multi-talented artist Jimmy Marquez and Maria Donna, winner in the recent Shanghai Festival, provided the evening’s entertainment. JR Siaboc, also from the Academy, serenaded the candidates as they paraded on stage in their elegant evening gowns.

The panel of judges, which included Miss Universe 2005 Nathalie Glebova, Chappy Chaatongkul of Singha Thailand, Korean popular star Joshua Kim of the television drama Irene, Aleck Ke Lui of Cathay Pacafic, Thelma Sioson-San Juan of ABS-CBN Publishing, interior designer Antonio Mendoza, and Asian Dragon magazine editor Louie Cruz, soon made their choices.

A special award for Best in Evening Gown went to Loise Angelique Tan, who wore an exquisite Wendell Quisido masterpiece. She also won Miss Fuji YKL Photogenic. Much-in-demand Cary Santiago was awarded Best Designer, while Joan Uy was Miss Waterfront Hotel Friendship.

Loise Angelique Tan, a Nursing student from Velez College, was crowned Miss Cebu 2007 by Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña and his wife Margot, assisted by Miss Universe 2005 Nathalie Glebova and Miss Cebu 2006 Stephanie Señires.

Shortly thereafter, Katrina Isabelle Ros, Maria Ruby Guinto, Maria Theresa Gorgonio, and Carlisle Santos were declared members of the court.
