A grand wedding for Iker Aboitiz and Amanda Luym
November 2, 2006 | 12:00am
It was definitely the most anticipated and talked-about wedding in recent years when one of Cebus most eligible bachelors, Iker Aboitiz, married statuesque, striking beauty Amanda Luym at the grand Redemptorist Church.
The groom is the youngest son of the well-respected and loved couple Enrique and Lulu Aboitiz, while the bride is the only child of Douglas and Annabelle Luym, one of the islands most influential families.
Officiated by Fr. Arsenio Nuñez, SJ, it was a dream of a meaningful, personalized ceremony with perfection evident in every aspect. The elegant church décor of lush evergreen ferns and asparagus, highlighted with white dendrobiums and calla lilies, was artistically executed by Cebus leading interior designer, the fashionable Rosebud Sala.
Amanda was truly a lovely bride in an exclusive Monique Lhuillier creation of full-satin skirt topped with a lace bolero. Doting mom Annabelle endearingly crafted the cascading bouquet of cattleyas and orchids.
The principal sponsors looked their very best in their own choice of color designer gowns, while the men were equally dashing in dark tailored suits. They were the grooms uncle Luis Aboitiz and his wife Annabelle, brother Endika Aboitiz and his spouse Valeria, dear friends of the family Eduardo and Gretchen Cojuangco, the grooms siblings Erramon Aboitiz and Eukene Aboitiz, the brides uncle David Lu and the grooms aunt Carol Diaz.
Ikers cousin buddy Marcelino Ugarte was his best man, while Amandas close, close cousin Maria de la Caridad Moras was maid of honor. Groomsmen were John Unchuan, Nicolas Paradies and Antonio Aboitiz. Anna Thelmo, Candice Gotianuy and Ma. Cristina Villarreal were bridesmaids.
The full-of-fun reception was at the Atlantic Hall of the Cebu Waterfront Hotel, which was transformed into a tent gathering area, covered with a profusion of greens and accentuated by spring blooms in every imaginable color. The whole setting was awesome, unmistakably a work of art by Cebus foremost event planner par excellence Teresin Mendezona, ably assisted by top florist Pinky Chang and talented landscaper Jaime Chua.
The proud fathers of the newlyweds delivered heartfelt speeches.
To Amanda and Iker, may your wedding be the perfect start of a wonderful life together. Best wishes and congratulations!
