Brainy cool: Top looks, feels at Sparkle Spell 2023
MANILA, Philippines — Some of the stars who attended the recent Sparkle Spell came with costumes inspired by great literature and socio-political events, making the party not just a skin-showing fanfare masquerading as a fashion event, which was the craze in other Halloween soirees.
Winning the audience and critics' approval is online personality Sassa Gurl. The humorous content creator fashioned a funeral wreath as her headdress and costume. The flowers served as her bodice, while the large ribbons were her headdress with the words that read: "From Congressman: Condolences."
Another notable online creator Pipay went satirical by making election tarpaulin/flyer as her costume.
Their costumes are timely given that the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections are taking place on October 28, a few days before the whole country will observe All Souls' Day and All Saints' Day on November 1 and 2.
Indie darling Therese Malvar went as a character from the acclaimed dark fantasy children's book "Coraline" by Neil Gaiman. Her eerie resemblance to the blue-haired doll deserves the night's most convincingly good costume.
The cast of "Voltes V" went yet again as a team as they channeled characters from another popular children's stories, "Alice in Wonderland."
These are just some of the winning costumes at the recent Sparkle Spell. Check out the others that stood out that night:
