MANILA, Philippines — An audible gasp was heard from the audience when the gorgeous Catriona Gray sauntered into the runway at the Marriott Grand Ballroom.
Our Miss Universe 2018 was wearing the finale piece of design wunderkind Jaggy Glarino at the “Marry Me At Marriott” affair.
The participation of the ”advocate, host and creative in pursuit of a dream” was a pleasant surprise as this was her first major appearance since her engagement to actor-singer Sam Milby.
“Had the most magical night being a muse for my extremely talented friend @jaggyglarino for the annual #MarryMeAtMarriott fashion show. Getting all the feels huhu," she said on Instagram.
The Marriott Bonvoy, together with Marriott Hotels in the Philippines, hosted "Winning Moments," the ninth edition of one of the biggest bridal shows in the country.
Gray wore a voluminous ivory off-shoulder, high-low gown by the avant-garde designer Glarino.
“I sourced out 50 yards of silk for her ball dress alone. The construction of the under structure is intense,” Glarino said of his splendid piece he said was inspired by the couturier Charles James.
His other fantastic creations were a 2023 take on the works of the OG fashion greats such as Balenciaga, Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Dior.
“I geek out sa construction nila back then and I wanna see how it transforms, considering that I am a very ‘street’ kind of a person,” the rising talent said.
How did he convince Catriona to bring his sartorial ideas to the runway?
“Alam mo naman si Catriona, she has vision. And she likes it when she is collaborating with someone who has a ‘clear’ vision and who can execute the ideas.” — Photos by Ramon Tan Mangila (@pixrepublikstudios); video by Philstar.com/C. Mendez-Legaspi
