Turning up my glow with K-drama star Cho Hye-Joo
I admit that aside from the storylines, acting, exciting cliffhangers and feel-good endings, one of my attractions to K-dramas is the skin of its actors. I never paid attention to it in my pre-K-drama life. My standards then were not lower, just different. Now I wish to have the flawless smoothness, suppleness of skin, and that elusive glow. I know, I know: inner beauty and all counts, but we can all use a little help externally.
I virtually had the chance to see the perfection of this enviable Korean skin in lovely rising star Cho Hye-joo. She is the new global brand ambassador of AHC’s Luminous Glow Eye Cream for Face. To give a brief background, her most recent work was as part of the cast in A Love So Beautiful, a wonderful love story that spans years. She was also in Search: WWW about women in the corporate world and workforce. She was previously a commercial and runway model, which is not surprising considering her delicate beauty.
AHC is one of Korea’s top skincare brands. It started in Seoul in 1999 initially for the exclusive use of private aesthetic spas and dermatological clinics. However, it created such a buzz among its clientele that the company now offers its products to the public. AHC provides Korean professional aesthetic clinic care for the home. It is top quality yet affordable and, best of all, easy to use.
As per AHC marketing communications team leader Cindy Cho, “AHC believes that beauty is a beautiful journey of transformation. The brand goes back to its Korean aesthetic heritage of valuing self-care and we help people do that by letting them see beauty as a transformative journey that they can enjoy.”
It was also mentioned in the media event that their brand combines “science and joy.” Who could resist that?
AHC is the original creator of the Eye Cream for Face. It is said that a tube of this product is sold every three seconds in Korea. What exactly is an eye cream for face? It is simply a combination of eye and face cream. Nothing complicated. It is also in keeping with the Korean beauty trend of “skipcare,” which simplifies and makes easy skincare routines.
Recently, AHC launched their new Luminous Glow Eye Cream for Face in a campaign called “Turn Up your Glow.” It claims to be clinically proven to brighten skin and reduce wrinkles. When they say “brightens skin,” it means eliminating spots and darkness, including dark circles under the eyes.
AHC has developed a trademarked ingredient called Gluta-I Complex for this product, which promises to show results in 14 days. It contains glutathione, which everyone knows is a powerful antioxidant and also has a brightening effect; Alpha Bisabolol that calms the skin and reduces pigmentation; vitamin C, which is a daily must for me because it illuminates the skin; adenosine to increase elasticity and reduce those annoying wrinkles; Hywhite, a brightening hyaluronic acid that inhibits melanin production; and Illumiscin that fights age spots to promote an even skin tone.
Now back to Korean star Cho Hye-joo. She does have amazing skin. She embodies this campaign because of her glowing skin, cheerfulness, and passion. The pretty young actress said, “You can’t avoid aging (pow!), but you can achieve a healthier and brighter complexion.”
She is a strong believer in self-care focusing on not only the external but internal beauty as well. It is a combination of the physical and one’s wellbeing. Her ultimate glow-up formula is “passion paired with self-love.” She backs this up by saying, “It’s a good thing to be passionate about anything that you do, but it won’t work without taking care of yourself first.” Hye-joo’s beauty tips include lots of sleep, water or constant hydration, and of course, the Luminous Eye Cream for Face. She particularly likes putting it on in the morning.
A live face-massage demonstration was conducted AHC’s master aesthetician, Jay Kim. She taught us a step-by-step skincare routine and techniques to properly apply different skin products. Equipped with the innovative Luminous Glow Eye Cream for Face, instructions on how to massage it into the face, and the recommended jade roller for absorption, I started using it a couple of nights ago. K-drama skin, here I come.
