Versatile and stylish: The new Uniqlo x Alexander Wang collection is designed to be worn as an inner layer, or simply worn on its own. Available at all Uniqlo stores.

The recent launch of Uniqlo x Alexander Wang is a welcome event for Pinoys who love traveling to more temperate climes. Wang’s reimagining of Uniqlo LifeWear is the perfect excuse to break out the Heattech and boots somewhere snowy and pretty.

Uniqlo has applied its innovative techniques to Wang’s urban aesthetic — the New York designer is known for fusing downtown cool with uptown polish.

For fall/winter 2018, Wang has designed a range of Heattech garments for men and women that are both versatile and stylish. “The new collection is designed to be worn as an inner layer, or simply worn on its own for enduring cold-weather support,” says Camille Rose Pacis, Uniqlo Philippines’ senior marketing and PR manager.

Wang, who launched his own label at the age of 21 and served as the creative director of Balenciaga from 2012 to 2015, designed key layering pieces like long-sleeved T-shirts, leggings, bodysuits and underwear in neutral colors like nude, black, white and gray, with a pop of neon chartreuse to keep things interesting. Prices range from P590 for the Heattech bikini shorts to P1,990 for the extra-warm, long-sleeved bodysuit.

I bought a ribbed sleeveless top (P790) that’s perfect for working out at the gym, as well as a long-sleeved T-shirt and leggings (P990 each). If I’m ever assigned to cover an event in a wintry country or travel to a bucket-list destination like Iceland, I’ll be ready with my Uniqlo x Alexander Wang.
