WATCH: Mark Bumgarner on Heart Evangelista’s ‘palaspas-inspired’ SONA 2018 outfit
MANILA, Philippines — During Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s recent State of the Nation Address (SONA), among those that turned heads at the red carpet was actress Heart Evangelista.
In a recent interview with Philstar.com for the launch of his collaboration collection with Plains & Prints, celebrity fashion designer Mark Bumgarner shared the details of what went into Heart’s simple but sophisticated terno.
According to Mark, the sleeves and belt of Heart’s terno were inspired by “palaspas” or palm leaves being waved by Catholic Filipinos during a Holy Week mass. He said he made the two white gazar pieces in a week, a week before SONA.
“Just clean and crisp,” he said of the looks. “It’s the SONA; you don’t need to show off in terms of bedazzling your outfit.” — Video by EC Toledo IV
