MANILA, Philippines — Not all of us our blessed, but even the blessed sometimes needs a little a help with a bit of makeup.
Isabelle Daza, an “it” girl and proud morena beauty, knows how to work her natural features and winning complexion by rocking that “no-makeup” makeup look with flawless radiance.
“I love working with Belle, because she’s very humble. Especially when I was just starting out, she would even share the tips and tricks of senior makeup artists with me. So it was a real collaboration, bigayan kami talaga,” shared Mayesa Delos Santos, the celebrity makeup artist who has lent her artistic touch to glamming up Daza and fellow “it” girls, Georgina Wilson and Martine Cajucom, who, like Belle, have recently became trending on social media for their controversial posts.
“Belle particularly likes the natural look, but she likes to play it up as well, using different bronzers and such. It depends on her mood and the event that she’s going to,” Mayesa explained.
During the recent launch of Simple, claiming to be Britain’s No. 1 face care brand, Mayesa, who is also an ambassador of the brand, dished out some tips on how Filipinas can transform into an effortless beauty like Belle.
For the perfect, naturally radiant look, Mayesa says to do the following.
1. Cleanse and moisturize.
“The key (to achieving a great beauty look) is to have a good base.” To achieve a smooth, flawless canvas, Mayesa advised to moisturize your face before you put on makeup. “Your skin will become smoother, and you’ll notice that you won’t need to use too much foundation.”
2. Have a flawless base.
When it comes to coverage, Mayesa likes to use three to four shades in both cream and liquid foundations. “The trick is to apply sparingly, and on certain areas only.”
The makeup artist likes to keep the application light, using liquid foundation on the T-Zone, and creams for contour. “I don’t use too much concealer, and I make sure to blend for that very light finish.” She then sets the makeup with powder.
3. Have eyesbrows on fleek.
“For that strong, natural look, brush up the eyebrows and set them with a little eyebrow gel.”
4. Let the eyes have it.
For the eyes, Mayesa prefers to keep it simple and muted. “I often use browns and pinks. They blend well to match your skin, while giving you the flexibility to build depth.”
5. Have a perfect pout.
To complete the look, Mayesa advised to stick to more muted tones such as mauve and pink on your lips.
6. Turn the other cheek.
For the apples, Mayesa loves pinks and corals. “It just flatters all complexions.”
The great thing about makeup is that it opens you up to a world of imagination. You can create the most effortless, radiant looks like Belle’s or go wild with color, there’s no stopping you.
“But regardless of what makeup look you want to do, you have to remember to take care of your skin. Make sure to remove your makeup completely before going to bed,” stressed Mayesa. “Healthy skin is beautiful skin, and it becomes the best base for your makeup.”
For those ladies who are too tired after a long day and who dread the long, complicated routine of removing makeup, Mayesa shared a lazy girl’s beauty hack: “I use Simple’s Miscellar Facial Wipes because they’re handy. ou can keep them in your bag, and they’re easy to use. Unlike other brands, these aren’t too wet and they don’t leave that greasy or oily feeling on you skin. Isang wipe, tanggal na lahat. You can cut down your skin regimen to just a few minutes.”
In addition to the Miscellar Wipes, the brand offers other gentle, skin-loving products that cleanse and protect the skin such as the Miscellar Cleansing Water, Moisturizing Facial Wash, Dual-Effect Eye Makeup Remover, and Hydrating Light Moisturizer. Designed for sensitive skin, the brand is allegedly formulated with no artificial colors, perfumes or harsh chemicals. “It’s gentle hydration and effective skin care. When it comes to taking care of your skin, you don’t have to stress yourself out, you can keep it simple,” Mayesa concluded.
