Baby beautiful skin
Dear Rissa,
I’m pregnant now and it’s my first baby. My skin has been sensitive to beauty products and I need to switch to milder body products. Is there something you’ve tried that you can recommend?
Trish
When I got pregnant, I immediately set aside all my favorite body products and switched to milder ones. What my ob-gyn recommended as a safe alternative is to switch to baby products. Apart from a milder formula, baby products are safer because of its hypoallergenic fragrance. Keep in mind scents are also strong irritants to pregnant women. So I bought Johnson’s Baby products such as shampoo and body wash since it’s a doctor-recommended baby brand. I admit the baby shampoo felt very different from adult shampoo because my hair was not as fine as a baby’s. But it did the job and cleaned my hair and it was just a matter of getting used to. I did enjoy the body wash a lot. It was gentle enough on the skin it felt so soft. You can try the Johnson’s Milk + Rice and Milk + Oats baby bath (available at leading personal care stores, drugstores, and supermarkets). I used it recently and it felt amazingly moisturizing on the skin, and even better than using a beauty bar. I think you’ll enjoy it because despite limitations your preggy skin has, it will still feel like you are getting some pampering.

Belo SunExpert Tinted Sunscreen and Face SPF 40 PA+++
Dear Lucy,
I hate my sunspots (or age spots). I’ve tried so many BB and CC creams but nothing works! How do I get rid of those ugly spots?
Agnes
BB and CC creams are cosmetic products. At best, they can only camouflage but not eliminate your sunspots! I asked beauty expert Dr. Vicki Belo herself and this is what she says: “Sunspots are areas where the skin cells DNA have been damaged by chronic exposure to the sun. In a hot and extremely sunny country like ours coupled by the thinning of the ozone layer by air pollutants we should wear sunblock everyday.
At Belo we have many treatments for these ‘sunspots’ because it’s hiyang hiyang also. The most popular and effective ones are the picosure laser coupled with the use of the Zein Obagi (ZO) products. The picosure is done once every three weeks — it breaks down the pigment from rocks to sand, which allows the dark pigment to be flushed out of the body using lymphatic drainage. The second most popular is the ‘revlite‘ laser. If there is redness combined we use the ‘starwalker’ laser.
All of these have to be combined with creams for asynergistic effect. Plus, make sure to use sunblock every day.”
Belo has devleloped a matte sunblock for the face to avoid clogging pores and that oily greasy feeling which can cause pimples. #BeloSunExpert is available in drugstores at a 40SPF. Use it everyday and it will help you avoid not only sunspots but premature aging as well.
Personally, I love how these lasers work. They are non-invasive but very effective! Please go and have your skin professionally assessed and the doctors at Belo clinic will be able to run you through the procedure as well as tell you the timeline upon in results can be expected.
